At last a win!! Pitch was in reasonable condition in most areas, just a bit soft in some patches.
Game was fairly even and both sides looked to establish themselves, we got the lead after some good link up play between our forwards, I dinked a ball forward which Luca nodded down nicely into the feet of Billy who struck it home. The second goal was a delightful directed header back across goal by Kev Logue after good work down the right by John Wright and a nice deep cross.
Pennington got back into the match from the penalty spot, the lad I think nicknamed (or not) Figo who had good feet and a nice turn of pace broke into the box and had a shot, it hit our centre back on the arm as he was coming across to block. 2-1. Pennington will feel unlucky they didn't equilise, a corner to the back post found an unmarked Pennington player who stabbed the ball and thankfully (for us) it came back off the post. We managed to add a 3rd goal to kill off the game, Jonny Slater with a nice clean strike from about 10 yards out after a good square ball.
Pennington are a good side who work hard all over the pitch, the match was played in largely good spirit bar 1 little niggle which the ref dealth with. Ref did a good job, kept play going where possible and gave decisions as he saw them.
