Well, that was demoralising. In the end I was kind of pleased that it didn't get to double figures, even though for the last 15 mins we had to play with 9 men. But I think it is still our heaviest defeat since the very first season of SMCCFL. We started with 13 players, but finished with 9 players due to 4 injuries, but that didn't really affect the scoreline as we were already 5-0 down in the first half before the first of those injuries. That was centre back Steve who got a suspected dislocated shoulder from a fall and we called an ambulance......he is ok and the injury is not as bad as first feared, but it won't help his moving house next week or our fight avoid relegation ! We were really sloppy at times in and around our own box and conceded some soft goals, but I thought Toft played better than ever I have seen them play and they were really up for it, although inevitably they did ease up towards the end. My only consolation is that despite another defeat and another heavy one at that, yet again we never lost our discipline and positive attitude. That is our third thumping this season from Toft, add to that the same against Burnley Yellows in Autumn and other recent heavy defeats.............it makes relegation (if that happens) and playing in div 2 next season look quite appealing !
