A rearranged match from earlier in the season. An early pitch inspection and the pitch was playable although it was a hard surface but. Just like playing on grass in the summer!! We took control in the first half and went into HT 2-0 up and possibly could have been more. We knew that at the start of the 2nd half it would be a lot more difficult and it was. Three goals within 20 minutes from Macc Parish and deserved as we just seemed to go to sleep. We should have defended better for two of them before the player had a chance to shoot but the finishes were quality. As a team we eventually managed to compose ourselves and get a hold of the game again and managed to grab two more goals when on another day we could have let our heads drop. At 3-2 Macc had a good shout for a penalty but thankfully for us Tony didn't have a clear view of it and from there it could have been different. I feel on the balance of play we just edged it and we would have been annoyed if after a great first half we came away with nothing. They always say a 2-0 is always a dangerous scoreline! It's another match in this division that shows a number of teams could get promoted. Thankfully we came out on top (just) with three wins on the trot. Thanks to David and his lads and I'm sure they will be challenging for promotion if they play like they did in the 2nd half. Good luck against People's Church next week! ;D

Agree largely with the match report although we felt disappointed to come away with nothing, first half we didn't compete and found ourselves 2 nil down. 2nd half we were much improved and got ourselves in front. Two excellent strikes by Rick Hayes and Eros Giagu and a tap from Dave Billy after good work on the left side by John Wright. Regards the penalty incident, it was a stonewall penalty, the lad pretty much caught the ball in the box as it came down off his chest and this was twice in 2 weeks that a stonewaller wasn't given for us. Credit to Ramsbottom, they got a good equiliser after that, think the it was the lad wearing number 10 up front who was a handfull all game, big and strong with a good shot (your second goal was a great solo effort by him) We conceeded the 4th and what proved to be decisive goal in a manner that left us again scratching our heads as to why nothing was given, a ball just lofted forward into the box, our defender and Ramsbottom winger both shoulder to shoulder, our keeper came out and grasped the ball in both hands, the onrushing pair clattered into our keeper the ball dropped, hit a leg and rolled in, we were staggered to see it awarded as a goal. Last 10 minutes we pushed to equalise and had a couple of chances, a deflected shot that looped just past the post was closest we came. I was dissappointed with my reaction after the game and as captain take responsibilty for my team mates, I am big enough to admit when I am wrong, my emotions got the better of me after two home defeats. I have relayed my apologies to Tony through our manager on behalf of me and the squad, in the heat of the moment it is easy to forget that a ref can only give what he sees. We will pick ourselves up for an important away game on saturday. Thanks to the Ramsbottom lads for a very well contested game.
