A good game of football, on a pitch that was a bit soft and cut up a bit, but definitely playable.
Hurdsfield had quite a strong team and I had thought we could get a result today. But I knew Warrington were on a good run, and I was expecting them to be better than when we beat them in the first league match of the season. Warrington also had a strong team today and you could see why they are climbing the Div 1 table after a slow start. It looks like Div 1 could now shape up into an interesting 3 way battle for top spot between Yellows, Bridge and Ambassadors (perhaps Vinelife have faded now?).
Ambassadors won mainly because they 'blitzed' us 3-0 in the first 30 minutes - they were as good as we were poor in that period and played with an energy that we didn't match. The rest of game was much more evenly balanced and we fought back to 3-2, but overall I think we just had to accept that Warrington are a better, younger, fitter football team than Hurdsfield and played the better football today. So, we can't be too disappointed to lose to Ambassadors on a day when we weren't at our best, and I am confident that in the new year we will add to our 2 wins so far.
Special mention - I thought Tom Bartarbee (no. 8) was awesome today and he epitomised that energy I referred to.
