Third time this season we have played each other (after never having met before), this Trophy match just 2 weeks after the league match, and each time there has been next to nothing between us. Like the league match we sneaked a win by just the one goal margin, but unlike 2 weeks ago which was 1-0 this one was more eventful.
St E's went 2-0 up in the first quarter of the match, during the initial period of play which I thought was quite scrappy. I thought it was tough to be 2-0 down so early as this scoreline didn't really reflect the match balance in the early stages. I think it was obvious that we would be capable of turning the match around, especially if we could get a goal back before half time which we managed to do after a number of previous good chances.
The second half developed into a really good game of football, with players tiring on a very heavy pitch it seemed to make the game more open and made for a better match. We managed to get the equaliser and then the match was finely balanced - ether team could have won it in the last quarter, although we did miss 2 sitters at 2-2 (somehow keeper or defender got to them both) and it looked set for extra time. Then with a few minutes of normal time remaining we got the winner from a corner. At 2-2 with the match so finely balanced on our touchline we were saying it would be really harsh on the one team if the other were to sneak a late winner and so it proved to be a tough one for the St E's lads.
