Poor pitch, poor game, poor result and some poor individual displays, its got to be worst game I have ever played and played in.
Salford looked quite bright first 10minutes but then Ramsbottom got a foot hold and started to boss the game. Salford were guilty of too many wayward passes, rushed passes and lack of quality on the ball (again mainly me!!). But somehow Salford took the lead just before half time, through Mad Dave following up from a good shot by Daz.
2nd half Ramsbottom started off where they left off, pressing high up the pitch and bossing the middle of the park, Salford continued to give the ball away cheaply and it cost us because Ramsbottom equalised.
This somehow spurred us into action and we started to press the ramsbottom players, but again both teams struggled to string two passes together and it looked like it was going to just fizz out at 1 v 1, until the ball was pushed out wide to ferg who beat is man and crossed in a great ball for Daz to power home a lovely header, great goal and it was like seeing the Daz of old.
The last 10 minutes Salford pressed hard and should have had two more, one being a 1 on 1 where Mad Dave pushed it wide of the post and then Ferg skipped past several players and saw glory rather than Chris open in the 6 yard box for an easy tap in. We felt that these two chances may come back to haunt us and they did!!
We were into the last two minutes of fergie time!! and Ramsbottom got a free kick, although Salford cleared the initially cross, we never closed down the 2nd ball quick enough both this time and all game and we paid the price because the ball was hit back into the mixer only for Rammy's striker to finish off superbly with a Bicycle kick, very frustrating both personally and for the team, because I should have been marking the lad who scored and the two minutes additional time turned into much longer.
But to be fair neither teams deserved to win the game and I finish off with what I mentioned at the beginning of the report, very poor game and the result doesn't help either team, the only positive if any is that Salford are now 4 games unbeaten.
I'd personally like to apologise to the Salford lads and the gaffer Sir Johnny, because my performance and behaviour has captain was totally unacceptable and to the Ramsbottom lads and the Ref for not taking part in the post match handshake.
