After another long journey we started well and took the lead after 8 minutes, then proceeded to miss chance after chance and rather than 4 or 5-0 at half time it remained 1-0.
In the 50th minute we were reduced to 10 men when the referee decided to send off Alan Scott for swearing at him, however, given that I was 10 yards from him whilst the referee was at least 20, left me stunned as I never heard him swear. We continued to miss chances and in the 70th minutes Mansfield equalised with a penalty after their forward slipped in the mud with the closest Oasis player three yards away. Full time 1-1
Oasis started the first period of extra time with a higher tempo and scored three goals in five minutes to lead 4-1 at the changeover.
The worst refereeing performance I have ever witnessed continued when in the first minute of the second period the referee sent off Jimmy McNamee for winning the ball cleanly before being kicked by Mansfield player. The referee said afterwards he may have got that decision wrong! With nine men it was backs to the wall for last ten minutes, and despite losing two poor goals and playing eighteen minutes rather than ten, the referee decided he couldn't help Mansfield any more than he already had and blew for full time.
The Mansfield players and management apologised after the match for the referees performance and admitted they were embarrassed by his decisions.
It's off to Hertfordshire or Kent next for Oasis on 1st March.
