We really needed to win this one and on another day we could/should have, but in the end Firwood got the better of us with the wind behind them in the second half.
We had a strong defence and midfield today, but we had inexperienced strikers and I think that was telling because we didn't create or take enough chances to match the possession that we had. Then in the final quarter of the match we had to take 3 players off which meant using two subs that I hadn't even met before this morning!
Firwood scored just before half time, then we equalised quite early in the second half. I think Firwood had more attacking possession in the second half and scored 2 more goals to seal the win.
Apart from one moment where ref Tony had to speak to a Firwood player for language, this match was played in good spirit and with no conduct issues from either team. I reckon ref Tony always has a good game, but I thought he was particularly good today, he was busy and had lots of decisions to make. Firwood manager Stephen said the same.
