A tight game overall with plenty of chances for both teams.
I think we just about deserved the win after getting ourselves 5-1 in front in the second half. Hurdsfield threw everything at us and scored 2 before the final whistle.
Good one for any neutrals!

Townley Park is a very pleasant place to play football when the sun is shining ! We had good football from both teams to match the weather, despite the bobbly pitch.
This was a close contest as Burger writes, but Yellows got the goals when it mattered. The match was finely balanced when Yellows scored 2 quick goals mid-way through the first half and from then on the lead they had always meant they had the upper hand. We got a goal back before Yellows scored again to make it 3-1 at half time.
In the second half we took the game to the Yellows despite the sun in our eyes and slight slope against us. But Yellows went 5-1 up with a goal following a defensive error and then an own goal to take charge of the match. We never give up and scored two goals to make the scoreline more representative of the match, Yellows were unhappy with one of those goals which they thought was offside. If we had stats I expect it would show that Yellows had more possession but Hurdsfield had more scoring chances.
Losing never feels as good as winning. But this was a loss that felt good, if that is possible ? Firstly we played well, second it is good not to get our regular hammering from Yellows at Townley, third it is good to know we were closely matched to the team that I reckon are still favourites for SMCCFL div 1 this season. That is despite we were still 3 players short of our best team and so although we are still bottom of div 1 we can have confidence and optimism that we are good enough to avoid relegation, if player availability is better in the second half of the season.
Final comment: we are back to square -1 in the goalkeeper department. Our new keeper has decided to go back to his old club, whilst the next choice keeper has broken a leg. So, yours truly had to come out of retirement for my first match since 2011-12 season. I'm still in one piece and with no embarrassing moments in the match, but we are still looking for a regular keeper !.....the 'adverts' are out there ! Any offers or suggestions ?
