A deserved win for Ditton who evidently wanted it more than us! They were faster, sharper and hungrier all over the pitch.
Ditton took the lead through a harsh penalty, when our defender won the ball with a sliding challenge, but admittedly there was some shirt pulling and tussling going on outside the box that did warrant Ditton a free kick.
Ivy pulled it back level following a knock down from a corner.
Ditton then got a further 2 before half time, following good build up play and then Ivy failing to clear there lines from a corner.
In the second half Ivy got themselves a penalty, through what looked a rash challenge on the attacker from the last man. Surprisingly the defender was sent off, which i do find bizarre for Saturday league football.
At 3-2 the wind was definitely in Ivy's sail's and should have made it 3-3, but the Ivy player managed to miss a free header on an open goal from a couple of yards out.
Ditton's 4th came from a freak own goal when a floated cross was diverted from the defender into the corner of the goal as he mistimed his header.
Ditton's final goal came from a good counter attack, with a first time cross and a glancing header.
Well played to Ditton, who are going to take some stopping now not to finish top of the league.
I know Ditton seem to get a bad name for their attitude, but before the kick off and after the final whistle they are a great bunch of lads, and i know i personally have a good laugh with some of the lads.

Cracking game of football with ivy dominating first 20 mins but failing to convert.i think our first goal was harsh on ivy as we struggled to string a pass together.i actually thought ivy were the hungrier of the 2 teams 1st half hour.
They deservedly equalised with a knock back as we fell asleep as david mentioned.
2 paul brush strikes after 35&40 got us the lead we probably deserved as we upped our game significantly.Ht 3-1.
The (debateable)sending off of peter harris after 55mins was the turning point with ivy converting pen.he actually won the ball!!3-2.
The enforced change of formation from us going 441 gave us plenty of chances to counter attack as ivy poured forward.
A nathan braddish effort defelected in by the unfortunate ivy no 14 who was brilliant all day.4-2
Paul brush heading home after a breakaway with ivy caught short at back.5-2
As always a pleasure to play ivy cosmos.a good laugh as david said.
See you in april..

Well played to ivy... Great set of lads some good banter in the game, all friends at the end of the day, I thought it was a tough game with a lot of battles, ivy seemed to create a lot of chances but had a off day in converting them, maybe on another day it could have been a different score. As for ditton we go from strength to strength... I think most teams in higher divisions would struggle to stop us. I think we are in a division that doesn't reflect how good of a team we are. Thanks to ivy and all there players. Best of luck in the return leg
