A good even match, in not the best of conditions. Most of the ice had thawed out but it made the middle of the pitch and the goal areas quite muddy, and made controlling the ball in these areas quite difficult.
The majority of the game took place in the middle of the park with chances hard to come by with both teams defending well, and the pitch not helping with the flow of the ball.
Ditton took the lead when a low ball was drilled into the box from the edge of the area, through a crowd of players and diverted from the edge of the 6 yard box from the forward. Ivy levelled just before half time from a free kick from the side of the 18 yard box. He ball was floated in and a knock down fell kindly to the Ivy centre half to stab home.
In the second half Ivy had a good half dozen chances to take the lead, but could manage to find the target. The closest Ivy came was when the Ivy forward rounded the keeper, but couldn't get a clean connection on the shot and a Ditton player got a good block in.
Ivy also had a couple of penalty shouts turned down, but the game ended 1-1.
A really enjoyable match to be part of, and played in the right spirit.
