A well contested game and thankfully on 3g otherwise it would've likely been called off again like last week.
Smafc took the lead with a good free kick early on though Firwood equalised with a good finish into the roof of the net shortly after.
Smafc retook the lead when another free kick was head in at the back post.
Both sides were playing some good football with Firwood hitting the crossbar with a free kick, being their closest chance to draw level.
A big mention has to go to one of Firwoods centre backs for his great sportsmanship later in the half. When a Smafc move was finished from close range the keeper managed to hold onto the ball, though despite all of the Smafc players claiming it had crossed the line, the referee played on until a great show of sportsmanship from Firwoods centre back, admitting to the referee that it was a yard over the line.
Apologies for not getting his name to give him a proper mention as he also took some stick from some of his team mates for what few people would have done.
Half time 1-3.
Second half saw Firwood put more men upfront to push for goals and why not soon as it was a cup game.
Both sides created chances to add to the scoreline. Midway through the half Firwood hit a speculative shot from distance which was tipped onto the bar, the resulting follow up was miscontrolled though the keeper took the forward out regardless and giving away a penalty.
The penalty was tipped onto the post and not long after Smafc made it 1-4 after a good cross from the right was headed in at the far post.
Firwood threw everything forward and added a second with another good finish from just inside the box late on.
Despite alot of Firwood pressure in the final ten minutes the scoreline remained 2-4.
We look forward to the next round playing Burnley at our place.
