A fiery contest if ever there was one, both teams getting stuck in from the first minute, westwood dominated the midfield but it was us who really should have converted 4 chances first half.
Westwood had their own clear cut chances and like us they really should have done better.
The deadlock was broken when the unfortunate dan massey headed in an og from a corner.1-0.westwood deserved their lead as they wanted it more,we just couldnt cope with their will to win.
HT 1-0.2nd half,(as my teamtalk pulled no punches) we started to match westwoods energy coming close on a couple of occasions.
Westwood did get the next goal though as we were caught out at the back again with a ball over the top, quality finish from striker making it 2-0.
3 subs from us and there was an instant response, joddy cahill nodding home at the far post made it 2-1.
The game got niggly now as tempers flared with the ref having his work cut out,a booking for westwood and then 2 bookings for ourselves.ref did well though.
Tom floyd equalised from nathan braddish free kick 2-2.
Both teams going for the win and we got it when marcus harris feeding nathan braddish who made it 2-3 with only minutes remaining.
1 of our subs got booked for entering the field of play to celebrate the winner.rules are rules.
This was a cracking game,it was tough on westwood who probably deserved more.
Passions and tempers ran high at times but I thought the ref handled it well.
Disappointed with our yellow cards its something we do need to improve on.
Well done to westwood.

Think I say this every year we play Westwood, they have a very young squad with lots of quality players, just lacking a bit of experience, there squads building In a year or two they'll be a force to be reckoned with, tempers did flare today but that's apart of football, few of our lads frustrated, because we never got started, Westwood frustrating us by stopping us playing football, full credit to Westwood a good side, a very good side for the future, unfortunate to have lost today, As for ditton.... Played poor today and still came out with a victory, good sign for us. Look forward to the next game

Would just like to start by saying what a side Westwood are. The most talented young, technical and agile side I have faced throughout the time I have been playing in our leagues. They are a like the 'The Arsenal' of the SMCCFL. As for us, well it wasn't our best of days. But they do say its the hallmark of a good side to win games when they are not at their best.
The National Trophy it is for us next. The challenges just keep coming and we have a lot more room for improvement. The difference between 'try' and 'triumph' is a little 'umph'. DITTON ATHLETIC, WHERE ONLY WINNING IS GOOD ENOUGH!!!!
