Brilliant conditions for a great game of football. Ivy went 1-0 up early on after a howler from the M.Central 'keeper letting a low shot from distance squeeze through his legs.
20ish minutes in Ivy made it 2-0 When our winger drifted in from the left wing and fired low past the keeper at his near post.
Central got a lucky break half way through the half when the ball was snatched off our left back from a comfortable position, there striker then wriggled through 2 Ivy defenders and fired low past the keeper when 1-on-1 with him.
In the second half Manc Central were level through a fortunate own goal. When one-on-one with the keeper the winger looked to flash the ball across the 6 yard box from a tight angle. However one of our players slid in to intercept the ball, which resulted in a bad ricochet that spun around the keeper, across the line, and just inside the far post.
Manc Central also had a good shout for a penalty at 2-1, when there striker was clearly caught in the box, but his over dramatic dive and whelp made the referee think otherwise.
Ivy had a lot of possession in both halves but failed to convert a lot of the chances, especially in the second half, with the keeper atoning for his earlier error and pulling of 5-6 really decent saves to keep Central in the game.
Ivy's winner came in the final 5 minutes, just as it did in the cup match last year.
Manc Central are definitely not a team that should have '0' points after 4 games, and are a tough physical team, with a bit of flair, especially one of the players that came on in the second half that gave the team an extra dimension.
Best of luck for the rest of the season.
