Well done Warrington they took full advantage of our own down falls, good set of lads and I wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
However I am very disappointed in some of our players attitudes e.g. (no show) just isn't acceptable, this on top of key players being injured and players going on holiday during the season = 10 players for the game which included our manager going in goal from a 22 man squad is so frustrating. I'm not one for trying to hide the real issues with... We had the better of the chances and played the better football etc etc, because at the end of the day the Warrington lads played well and like I mentioned above took full advantage of our own mistakes..... Poor commitment!!
Three games in and were yet to see a full strength squad which is the most frustrating thing, a bet this common issue for other teams in the league and they too share my frustration.
Anyways onwards and upwards.
Over and Out from the Salford Skipper.

Unlucky gents, we suffered the same problem last year and as mentioned on our match report this week, seems we're all struggling for a keeper. Surely we should all be able to rearrange games when we're struggling for players some weeks, considering we only play every other week and there being only eight teams in the league.
We're already having to rearrange our next match, versus Burnley away, due to alot of their players being unavailable. Strange considering the same fixture last year, where they actually took the points off of us as a 3-0 win when we had a player shortage!......to then ask at the end of the season to replay it when the title was looking like coming down to goal difference!

It's impressive how many things you can get wrong in one paragraph.
1) We have agreed to re-arrange the game with yourselves due to YOUR players / management being away on a stag weekend. I received an email last week asking if we could consider this and have no problem in pushing the fixture back a week.
2)When we offered the chance to play our game at the end of last season, the title had already been decided - toft had already won it. I explained via email at the time that due to fixture congestion, cup games and uncertain weather - I could not say for definite that we could move the fixture (you cancelled on us on the friday afternoon. I did explain, however, that if we found ourselves with a free week towards the end of the season then I would let them know. This is exactly what i did but the offer was turned down.

Apologies Burger. Goes to show poor communication at our end, we were told it was due to you guys struggling for players that weekend as we're certainly not, news to us of otherwise.
With regards to last season I still feel we could rearrange games when there's times the games can't be played, we shouldn't have to resort to taking the points without even playing. We couldn't get a side out due to too many players away and our seconds also playing that week.

Strange one, but certainly isnt us that wants to rearrange - although we are happy to do so. Here is the email andrew sent me .........
Hi Mark
We have a game scheduled against you on Oct 12th. Unfortunately there is now a stag do on that day which takes our management team away and a couple of others and we don't really want to run the game with our non-Christian captain in charge! Is there any chance we could do the week after?
Andrew

Apologies again, miscommunication from our end doubled with a rant about last years fixture. Cheers, just spoke with Andy, looks like probably will be 19th now.

My understanding on this was all games that needed to be re-scheduled should have been done at the start of the season?
I think its unfair if teams are able to re-arrange pre arranged matches just because key players are unavailable,if some players cant make the game then other players in your squad need to step up to the mark. We (Salford) did this and paid the price, it wouldn't have been fair on warrington if we played the "can we re-arrange card" till all our players were back.
The rule should be, play the game or lose the game, no re-scheduling.

Totally agree and everyone should use their squads to full effect. Though when teams can't even get an xi for the weekend then surely teams would rather play the game at a later date, especially as this league has so few games compared to other Saturday leagues. I know we rearranged games last season on both parts for that reason, as well as having to play one game with ten men.

I agree that squads shouldn't just say they can't play cos their best squad isn't available. We played Burnley on the first day of the season and I had 14 players tell me they were unavailable but we just made do with what we had. The tricky thing comes when clubs like SMAFC and ourselves etc have both A and B teams playing on the same morning and then have 14 or more unavailable but managers should see this coming and give at least a couple of weeks notice that there is maybe going to be an issue but obviously we can't have managers contacting each other the night before a game (asking to postpone) just because the star striker or captain is unavailable. I say this, as our player manager, from a bus on my way to Jerusalem which was the reason I missed our match with Salford last Sat. All teams have players missing most weeks... its the nature of the league. Its a league for low level commitment players who haven't got time to play football 3 times a week but still want to play as competitively as they can.
