A very good game of football on the whole, and a lot closer than the score line suggests for the majority of the match.
Ivy took the lead very early on following a corner. The ball was headed clear back to the corner taker who brought the ball into the box and rifled it low and hard through the box into the bottom corner.
Westwood got level through a free-kick about 25 yards out. The ball was floated over the players on the edge of the box and only one player gambled on the cross giving him a free header that looped over the keeper
who came out to try and challenge the striker.
Ivy went 2-1 just before half time. a poor back pass was picked up by the striker who rounded the keeper and walked to ball over the line.
It stayed 2-1 for quite a while, an you could not honestly say which way the next goal was going to go. both teams having a couple of fantastic opportunities each to score.
The game took a massive twist with around 15-20 minutes left when a Westwood player got himself a straight red card for a two footed lunge. The incident didn't really spill over and was quickly diffused.
The lad was very apologetic after the game and shook hands with our player that he took out his frustration on. So fair play. All of the Ivy lads hold no grievances as he seems a genuinely nice lad and it
was evidently out of character.
Ivy then made the extra man count scoring 3 goals after breaking through the Westwood midfield and defense. Mainly due to the extra player and the fatigue of the Westwood players.
Well done to Westwood who played well throughout and even put in a fantastic shift with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
I'm sure Michael will also have some views on the game.
