Another close one between these two teams, although obviously not a repeat of last season's two draws. Both teams had regular players missing which seemed to even out to create another tight match. Even though Hurdsfield were winning 2-1 with 10 mins to go and the players were very disappointed to have lost from that position, I reckon that Salford always seemed to just about have the upper hand throughout the match. So, probably if any team was going to win they probably just deserved it.
In the end Salford centre forward Darren made the difference with 2 goals in the last 10 minutes to snatch the win. I thought that up to that point our defence largely had Salford's danger man under control, but he showed how a good striker can turn a tight game if given the chance. Hurdsfield's usual team must be one of the oldest average age in the league. So, it was nice that our scorers were a 16 and 17 year old........one positive of having players missing is that new players have a chance. Our first goal from Jordan was a great diving header. Hurdsfield youth policy!.......thanks to Cre8 ! Overall, despite the defeat, I think there are positives for Hurdsfield from this match, given that we had 4 players making debuts. I am hopeful that our availability problems in the first two matches will not continue so much, in fact we have a bigger squad this season, and with more of our regular players available I am confident we will start winning.
Thanks to the Salford team for a good contest and to referee Tony.

Well done Hurdsfield, great game of football and a good set of lads.
Salford Positives would have to be the never say die attitude, we're now playing right up to the last kick of the game, this kind of attitude and beliefs been missing in previous seasons. The other positive is that we're now winning games when the squads thin on the ground, this just shows how much strength in depth we now have, which is great to see, because last season we had a lot of players missing and it was a struggle at times.... Well done Johnny and the lads keep it up.

Would agree with all the previous posts. A greatly contested game and one Hursfield could have won, but it would have felt cruel on balance of the whole game. Luckily Jordan Rhodes wannabe stepped up with two great finishes in the last 10 mins to snatch the victory. About time he scored! Cheers to Hurdsfield for a fun, fair and tightly contested game as always!
