As the scoreline suggests a close game.
Smafc took an early lead with a good lob from just inside the box and were unlucky not to add to their tally in the first half, hitting the crossbar and blazing another good chance high and wide. Credit to Salford they weren't short of opportunities in the first half either and could have equalised on several occasions. Salford did get back on level terms after around the half hour mark with a similarly finished goal, lobbing the keeper from just inside box.
Smafc made good use of the rolling subs, finally having the numbers to do so, having at times struggled for players last season. The second half saw Smafc have the better of the game without being able to find another goal and Salford had one or two half chances that were well saved.
Despite several changes and chances by Smafc late on, Salfords keeper, (one of their CB's to add), pulled off some good saves to keep them in the game and earn them an away point.
Smafc were unlucky not to take all three points but well done to Salford who put in a well fought performance as always, and to their stand in keeper who had a good game.

Not sure which game this Smafc reporter was watching but it was nothing like what's mentioned above. Yes I agree smafc had the better of the first half hour but on a whole Salford had by far the better chances and played the better football. However smafc will be no easy push over for any team, they are a well organised physical team and I wish them well for the rest of the season. I'd also like to mention that the pitch should be changed, its far too small for adult football, even the ref commented on the pitch size saying its a kids pitch. I look forward to the next time we play.

The pitch meets the size requirements for an adult football pitch. Perhaps if Salford played football on the floor and did not want to kick the ball as far up the pitch as possible for their striker to chase then they would not have concerns on how small the pitch was. As for SMAFC being a physical team, the Salford number 14 should have been sent off if the referee had not thought the game was a friendly!
Sour grapes on Salfords behalf i think!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, thats what this forums for, but it was two points dropped on Smafcs part. We too look forward to the reverse fixture when we'll take all three points. Hopefully your home pitch meets the requirements for your long balls, and we'll remember to bring your dummies that you left in our away changing room.

Difficult to agree with anything posted on the reds behalf. Think your confusing through ball with long ball!! Need to get yourself FIFA 14 and learn the difference!! League position at end of the season will show the difference. Much enjoyable game, heading practice for us this week after missing those first half chances! Good luck for rest of season.

I grew out of playing computer games when I was in my teens, so I'll leave you to play those. Might want to practice your shooting and tackling too! League position will tell all come April for sure.

Would agree with everything in the initial post on this thread but the last two paragraphs are a little inaccurate. SMA certainly had better of he opening exchanges, deserved to score and their forwards were causing some problems (two great new players by the way - quick, skilful and hard for defenders to deal with). After equalising we had a number of corner and chances but put them all wide, while SMA hit the bar / post join with a shot. As for long ball, we were trying to play football, it was just our smaller forwards were getting tired of being clattered by the colossal centre halves so had to try a different tactic! Second half was quite even and less chances to be honest. Don't remember our keeper doing much other than field through balls, bar one very good save. Certainly didn't 'keep us in the game'. We didn't have the chances either to be fair. As for tackling, yes, our player could have been sent off, but then so could your big centre forward just as easily, for a number of studs up challenges, which the ref gave fouls for but no booking, one of which left our centre back with a possible broken foot. As it was, the ref, who I thought was good, gave a card to neither player. All in all, a draw wa a fair result to be honest, neither team deserved to win or lose that game. Look forward to the return at our place later in the season! I'm off to play FIFA...

I don't know about the tackling of our players but its always good to play a team in this league who can actually handle the physical side of the game, you're one of the few sides who can and just get on with it.
It would help if the referee we had actually realised our match wasn't a friendly, which he mentioned afterward saying that he'd have booked your player, possibly others too.
Maybe a bias towards our own teams in reporting on here but we felt we should've won the game.
You'll have to give "yaya" a shout for a game then ha ha
