Ivy were only able to manage to string together a weak squad for the trip up to Liverpool. A similiar problem we encountered with the first round match, Due to lack of availabilty for these long distance fixtures.
Even with the squad problems Ivy took the lead midway through the first half when our striker nicked the ball off the goalkeeper outside the box and delivered a a cute chipped shot into the corner of the net.
The lead wasn't to last very long at all and Inter Mitchell drew level when the forward beat the offside trap and lobbed the bouncing through ball over the keeper.
Ivy then had a large portion of possession and Plenty of opportunities to re-gain the lead with plenty of balls being delivered into the box from free-kicks and corners but Ivy just couldn't get the ball to fall kindly
Just before half time Mitchell made it 2-1 when another through ball was again deftly lobbed over the keeper when one-on-one again.
in the second half, Mitchell made it 3-1 when the same forward sprang the offside trap again and rounded the keeper.
4-1 shortly followed when a crossed ball into the box was well volleyed by a Mitchell forward, but the keeper was unable to keep it out with a strong hand.
Mitchel finished off the scoring from an extremely soft penalty, that just crept in after the keeper went the right way.
Despite losing by a couple of goals Ivy was always threatening and should of really done better with the half dozen, or so balls that was fizzed into the box, but a mixture of poor finishing and miss hit shots prevented Ivy getting back into the game.
Good luck to Inter Mitchell for the rest of the cup.
