A hard fought but satisfying result. The game was well contested by both sides and bubbled over at one point but quickly and well dealt with by Tony.
We went 1 nil down, a sweet free kick dropped into the top corner from 20 yards, unsaveable! We were playing well and creating chances but couldn't get the goal - 0-1 half time.
Second half we started well and got back into the game from the penalty spot, Dave Billy had burst away from the centre back and was brought down. Rick stepped up and cooly stuck away the pen. We pressed but then found ourselves 2-1 down, we had a corner that was hoofed clear, a mis-control by our right back and Langworthy broke well and scored (the forward with the beard scored and had a good game). We continued to miss chances until eventually Kev and Eros combined to level things, Kev having a great game up front for us winning every header, won the flick on, Eros got the knocked down but was tackled by the keeper, Kev had continued his run and slotted home. 2-2.
We almost went in front straight after, another header won by Kev, was hit first time by Ian, it looped over the keeper and looked in but just drifted past the post. We got the winner in spectacular style, John Wright hit a rocket from about 25 yards out that found the far corner of the net, a strike that was worthy of winning any game.
For the most part the game flowed, a couple of handbag moments between a couple of players and I would have said that Langworthy players acquitted themselves well but an unsavoury incident was brought to my attention post match, this has been reported, without going into the details, for whoever from Langworthy was involved I hope you are ashamed and their certainly won't be a warm welcome back to Macclesfield should the fixture occur again in a season or 2!
